The Joker and Darth Vader are some of cinema’s most iconic villains. They have acquired millions of fans worldwide and have left an impact in the minds of moviegoers.
The Joker was created by Bill Finger, Bob Kane, and Jerry Robinson and first appeared in the debut issue of the comic book Batman on April 25, 1940.
Darth Vader was created by George Lucas and was first shown in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.
When it comes to the question to which one is better, the answer is not so clear.
Student Francis Andrada prefers Darth Vader over the Joker.
“Solely by character development, I’d have to say Darth Vader,” said Andrada. “He makes good decisions in the beginning, and then you see the progression of the character. How he plays around with his son, how he attempts to pull him to the dark side. But in the end he ends up returning to his normal self.”
When asked which movie shows Vader at his best he commented this.
“The Empire Strikes Back. It really shows how strong the empire can be and how strong of a character he is.”
Senior Brandon Bruno on the other hand prefers the Joker over Darth Vader.
“I do like the Joker because he is extremely destructive,” said Bruno. “I definitely prefer The Dark Knight Joker.”
When asked about the Joker in the new DC movies he said, “I think it holds up, but I don’t think it’s as good as The Dark Knight one.”
Whatever villain you enjoy the most, both are great villains and hopefully will be in more great content in the future.
