Leicester City: From Hell to Glory

Do you believe in miracles? Some people might start to believe in them after Leicester City won the English Premier League. A year ago, no one would have thought this to ever happen一or even become a reality. Leicester fought relegation and came close to demotion into a lower division in England. They went from last place to first. It is truly remarkable how much things can change in a year.

The feat that Leicester City accomplished is one of the most memorable and special occurrences the world of football will ever see. In the beginning of the season, the odds stacked heavily against Leicester City, at 5000 to 1, the relegation battling team faced faced the odds to win the English Premier League. To put into perspective how heavily stacked the odds were against them, it was more likely for Elvis Presley to be alive right now than for Leicester City to win the title. They beat the odds and proved every doubter wrong.

Leicester truly had a wonderful season. They have only registered three losses in their respective league. Those stats are so impressive that they have recorded less losses than FC Barcelona, the best team in the world to many right now. The team of FC Barcelona have recorded five losses in their respective league.

Leicester City’s remarkable accomplishment can’t be mentioned without recognizing two standout players on the starting 11 roster, Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez. Hardly anyone knew player Jamie Vardy around last year. This year he went on to score in 11 consecutive league games, something that had never been done before in the modern, more physical era of the league. As of right now, he has registered 22 goals and 6 assists with two games left for the season. Another player that has truly broke the headlines is Riyad Mahrez. He has become such an integral part to Leicester City and their title winning campaign that he was recognized as the PFA Player of the year, meaning he is considered the best player in the English Premier League for the season. As of right now, he has registered 17 goals and 11 assists.

None of this came easy to Leicester City. They had to give it their all and fight with every ounce of sweat in them to get to where they are today and pull off what they have achieved. But this comes to show that anything is possible and anyone can achieve what they want through hard work and dedication. What a season it has been for Leicester CIty and their hard work and dedication will forever be remembered in not only the world of football, but to everyone looking for inspiration.
