Mayoral Prayer Breakfast

On Wednesday, October 23, Texas Station held the annual Mayoral Prayer Breakfast that featured the mayors from towns all over Clark County, including Henderson and Summerlin.

The breakfast was held from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. for students attending. The event is hosted by the Interfaith Council of Southern Nevada & United Way of Southern Nevada.

Junior Ariana Boorboor was one of 750 students in the state to join the breakfast.

“It pretty much is a panel of people, like high figures in the district, and then you have that panel and they invite a bunch of students and teachers and they pretty much tell you about the history of the breakfast,” said Boorboor.

The purpose of the breakfast is to make attendees more aware of different religions and “a community-building event [to] encourage unity, diversity, and develop leadership skills for our local youth,” according to eventbrite.com. The panel of mayors also informed them about current events within the district.

To wrap up the event, Boorboor mentioned that there was a “town hall meeting where we get to ask [the mayors] questions.”

The meeting is held to invite the attendees to interact with their local mayors and have any questions they may have for them answered.
