Yesterday, the Cleveland Browns won its first game since the 2016-17 NFL season.

They have been the laughing stock of the NFL for 10 years now, winning no more than five games per season except in 2014, when they peaked at seven. As a NFL franchise, winning games is important. The better you are, the more people will come, and that means more money.

The Browns have drafted bust after bust when it comes to the quarterback position. They have had a total of 30 quarterbacks since 1999, which is a particularly high quantity, even over 19 years.

Their new quarterback, however, has proven more promising than his predecessors. Baker Mayfield was drafted this year by Browns at number 1 overall, and his performance on the 20th was a display of his prowess as a quarterback.

Baker Mayfield threw for 201 yards on a 73.9% completion rating with a QB passer rating (ratio of missed-made passing attempts by a quarterback) of 100.1 on his debut. He did not throw a single touchdown nor interception. Long story short, he performed really well, especially for a rookie.

As the season continues, Mayfield and his team will have to continue their streak to prove worthy of the Super Bowl title. But, at least for now, it’s best to congratulate the city of Cleveland on their historic victory.
